Project Funding For Urgent Matters 🔌👀🏴‍☠️

The funding program Error 406 Not Acceptable supports open processes and risky art projects through an annual open call. Each edition highlights a different urgent topic, setting the focus on a condition that is Not Acceptable.

The call for projects is aimed at artists worldwide, collectives, curators, arts initiatives, exhibition spaces, online platforms, and developers of software and hardware — basically anyone exploring the possibilities of contemporary, networked technologies as art and their significance for society.

The internet is broken, but was it ever whole? Through Error 406 Netstalgia Not Acceptable we were looking for projects that reject the longing for a mythic “old internet” and confront the politics of net nostalgia head-on. We invited artists, curators and collectives from around the world to propose projects that take a clear-eyed view of the past, while exploring how internet histories can open pathways toward more equitable futures. This open call asked: what protocols, networks, archives and shared conditions are needed to build the internet we actually want?

8 projects were selected by the jury — Chia Amisola, Olia Lialina & Vladan Joler — and will be presented in an online exhibition in winter 2026/27.

Not Acceptable

In May 2025 we launched our first call for artistic projects: instructions, scores, how-tos, interventions and practices against tech fascism. This call for resistance was about finding ways to challenge the current systems with the means available: misdirection, opting out, and pushing back. Resisting in solidarity with others and carving out spaces in which we can develop technological systems that align with collective needs rather than exploiting us.

13 projects were selected by the jury – Hito Steyerl, Nora O’Murchú, and Sam Lavigne – and presented in the online exhibition 13 Scores Against Tech Fascism.
